Blue Ray Movies :Planet of the Apes [Blu-ray] Review

So to say one more chance for Charlton Heston: "Oh my God!" I do not think the film deserves 5 stars, and considering how many places are for the film are already here, the thing I most of this film that I got that focus guests.
I am a composer, and I still remember as a young man this score was a revelation for me. Jerry Goldsmith has shown that a score to a film that was completely "right" to write from start to finish, and another"Sound", which can be identified. It 'was at this point, and remains to this day, my favorite film composers. While atonal music sounds a bit about this film now 'and dated "effecty" (it was 1968 after all) was in the right place for the film.
The number of films that he composed the music for themselves is breathtaking (see Wikipedia), and is probably the most these days for his Star Trek scores, which start with my thoughts were not known at its best – haswere conducive to the neo-romantic John Williams score that was the sound of science fiction – Strauss, Wagner, etc. (you can usually identify a score by John Williams, especially since he defined as new sounds all the great Romantic composers without actually one of them.)
But the vast majority of films he made were not science fiction or fantasy: A Patch of Blue (1965), The Boys from Brazil (1978), Basic Instinct (1992), and many others.

Many early science fiction films are now, quite inadvertently (and in most cases undeservedly), objects of camp attention: we laugh at the silly makeup, tin-can special effects, and the naive “high-tech” dialogue. Planet of the Apes is no such film. Its intelligent script, frightening costuming, and savagely effective conclusion (which needs no big-budget special effects to augment its impact) remain both potent and relevant. When Colonel George Taylor (the fabulous Charlton Heston) crash lands his spacecraft on what seems to be an unfamiliar planet, he is captured and held prisoner by a dominant race of hyperrational, articulate apes. However, the ape community is riven with internal dissention, centered in no small part on its policy toward humans, who, on this planet, are treated as mindless animals. Befriended and ultimately assisted by the more liberal simians, Taylor escapes–only to find a more terrifying obstacle confronting his return home. Heavy-handed object lessons abound–the ubiquity of generational warfare, the inflexibility of dogma, the cruelty of prejudice–and the didactic fingerprints of Rod Serling are very much in evidence here. But director Franklin Schaffner has a dark, pop-apocalyptic sci-fi vision all his own, and time has not dulled the monumental emotional impact of the film’s climactic payoff shot. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here, you owe it to yourself to check out this stone classic, and even if you do, see it with fresh eyes; and don’t be surprised if you get the chills all over again… and again… and again. –Miles Bethany

“You Maniacs!…’ – Bindy Sue Frønkünschtein – under the rubble
A survivor of a spaceship crash named Taylor (Charlton Heston in The Omega Man and Soylent Green) finds himself in a world of intelligent apes completely socialized. The monkey has three classes of society or group, the gorillas are the military group, the chimpanzees and orang-utans scientists are religious / political leaders. This moral evolution-gone-mad, must resist the Apes Taylor, whom he considered a threat to their society, politics and religion. This isClassic stuff, w / a twist finish is unprecedented …
Planet of the Apes (1968) – N. Anno – Indiana
Adapted from Pierre Boulle's 1963 French novel, director Franklin Schaffner's Planet of the Apes Charlton Heston stars as "Spaceman" called Taylor, who along with two other astronauts to walk on a mysterious planet through spiritual monkeys. After finally escaping the limits of the Apes "prison that still holds his fellow prisoner on earth (the other is the latest addition to the local museum), ventures into unexplored parts of our planet, where he makes a terrible discoveryThis makes your stomach churn.
Planet of the Apes is a masterpiece of time given the complex sociological, is full of beauty on the screen, lavish sets, costumes, brilliant (which received an Oscar nod in '69), and reaches a popcorn-movie action calm the dog. It is preceded by a substantial part of the movement Sci-Fi and four sequels and a remake in 2001, comparing any of his genius. However, none of the quality over quantity of his mind-blowingConclusion of a strange endings in film history.
Awesome !! – Monkey Business – New York
Considering how old this is really surprising to see this on Blu-ray. Fabulous soundtrack! And, of course, the story and the message (s) are timeless. Can not go wrong with this if a man of thought.
